On Monday, September 8, District 7 Supervisor Myrna Melgar’s ‘Street Safety Act’ will be voted on in the Land Use and Transportation Committee before going to the full Board of Supervisors for a vote the next day.

Please join us in showing support for the Street Safety Act at a crucial moment:  

• 12:30 – 1:00PM: Join Supervisor Myrna Melgar, Streets For All SF, partner organizations, and people like YOU for a rally on the steps of City Hall.

• 1:30PM: Attend and speak in support of the Street Safety Act at the Land Use and Transportation hearing. The Land Use hearing is the only chance to give public comment in support of this much-needed resolution.

Alert alert! The transit agencies the Bay Area depends on – BART, Muni, AC Transit, and Caltrain – face massive service cuts unless Governor Gavin Newsom follows through on his promise of a $750M emergency loan from the state. In July, Governor Newsom and the state legislature committed to provide an emergency loan to prevent service cuts until a longer term funding source from a regional measure could go into effect.

The Bay Area needs transit for its economic recovery, and without this emergency loan, our region will suffer massive cuts to our ability to get around. But the deadline for the state to issue the loan is in the next few days, and although it has been nearly two months, the Bay Area’s emergency relief loan is nowhere in sight.

Join us for a rally and march to send the message loud and clear: This is an EMERGENCY and Governor Newsom needs to make good on his promise to the Bay Area.

We encourage you to bring signs and costumes that help highlight that the life and health of the Bay Area is on the line and we need Governor Newsom to provide this essential lifeline!

Join Streets For All SF (formerly KidSafe SF) and Illuminate to celebrate the end of summer on JFK Promenade. We'll meet at Naga at 1pm to hear from Ben Davis, Illuminate's founder, about the sculpture and art on the Golden Mile, then gather at the Whale's Tail beer garden for food, drinks, and family games and fun. Catch up with old friends, talk about streets advocacy, and learn about Streets For All's next policy priorities in SF. We'll provide kids' snacks and treats, you bring the party!​

1:30: Head to the Whale's Tail beer garden
1:45-4pm: Get a drink and food at the beer garden, and socialize with other advocates, volunteers, and San Franciscans who are passionate about better streets and public spaces!
