In 2020, San Franciscans discovered the joy of walking, biking, and enjoying the coast on the Great Highway. Now, it’s Sunset Dunes, a park for everyone to enjoy all the time.

Since KidSafe SF started in 2021, we’ve been fighting to protect the Great Highway as permanent open space for recreation.

In 2024, San Francisco voters embraced the opportunity to look to the future, and permanently protect this special part of our city for future generations. Proposition K passed with 55% of the vote, and now Sunset Dunes exists as a full-time park filled with art, seating, and safe open space for everyone to enjoy on the coast.
