Streets For All SF and our partners at Walk San Francisco, the San Francisco Bicycle Coalition, and SPUR today published an open letter to San Francisco voters calling out the misleading imagery and faulty statistics used by the Yes on G campaign to attack Sunset Dunes.
The Yes on G campaign is using pedestrian safety imagery to promote its mission of turning a park into a dangerous highway. It has also repeatedly misled voters with cherry-picked information about traffic crashes that has been disproven by multiple media outlets, including Mission Local and the Frisc.
According to Mission Local’s reporting, traffic crashes in the Sunset have decreased since 2022.
We believe that all concerns about street safety should be taken seriously. But adding thousands of cars to a high-speed thoroughfare will not make any streets safer. Instead, the solution is slowing down traffic on side streets with proven safety measures such as speed humps, protected daylighting zones, and automated enforcement.
