Supervisor Myrna Melgar's annual Participatory Budgeting is happening right now. Several projects will deliver meaningful improvements to street safety across District 7.
You can vote if you live in District 7 and are over the age of 18. Also note that you can vote for as many projects as you want. Any project that clears the vote threshold will get funded.
We've looked through the list, and recommend voting in favor of these projects that will enhance safety for all road users throughout District 7:
1) Detroit Steps Plaza Planter Garden: A container garden that calms traffic at a key pedestrian and transit hub in Sunnyside
3) Sloat-Junipero Safety Pathway Upgrade: Improved landscaping and protection for overgrown triangular parcels
4) Hearst School-Area traffic calming: Traffic calming improvements near Sunnyside Elementary School
7) Replace Missing Sidewalks in Midtown Terrace: Connect missing sidewalk segments on Panorama Boulevard's Western edge
10) 16th Avenue Pedestrian Safety Improvements: Safety measures at 16th and Kirkham near Hidden Garden Steps and a preschool
12) Congo–Circular Pedestrian Island Upgrade: Add missing sidewalk and visibility improvements to a section of Circular Ave in Sunnyside.
16) Lincoln–5th Park Entrance Safety: Improve the intersection at 5th and Lincoln to separate pedestrian and cyclist flows and add a colorful crosswalk.
Voting closes on Monday June 15. Make your voice heard and support street safety in District 7!
